What is Medical Aid in Dying (MAID)?
Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) is a legal end-of-life option in New Mexico for terminally ill, mentally capable adults with a prognosis of six months or less to live. It allows these individuals to request, obtain, and self-administer medication to end their life peacefully, at a time of their choosing.
Under the Elizabeth Whitefield End-of-Life Options Act (EWEOLOA), individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Be an adult (18 years or older)
- Have a terminal illness with a prognosis of six months or less
- Be mentally capable of making an informed medical decision
- Be a resident of New Mexico

We cover the full cost of medical aid in dying medications and do not charge patients or their families for any additional physician services. - Specialized & Trained MAID Support Team
